Holding my first toy!

Here is Anna holding her first little ring that I placed in her hand!

MY SWEET ANNA!

When you bring a baby home from the hospital...it is a really rough transition in the beginning especially going from 1 child to 2. You start getting less sleep, I was concerned Anna would wake Avery up, how would Avery adjust, was Anna getting enough milk, were we doing everything the same as we did with Avery, was Anna going to be as good of a baby as Avery, was she going to get the feed/wake/sleep cycle we do to increase her bedtime sleep, etc. I didn't have any emotional break down bringing Anna home, but it took me a while to bond with Anna. I felt that I immediately bonded with Avery the second I had her, but she was all I had to think about. I was reminded with Anna how much I am not a fan of the first 4-6 weeks of having a newborn...grant it you have to go through it, but it is my least favorite stage...was with Avery and has been with Anna. However, you hit that 6 week mark and the fun begins....Anna is a very happy, content little girl, that seems to be relaxed and laid back - she was like this the first 4-6 weeks as well. She is such a blessing to us and I cannot wait to see what kind of little girl she turns into. I share this because it was something that surprised me because I just thought that you instantly would feel the same bond with child number 1 versus child number 2.

Traits of Anna we are in love with right now...her gummy smiles, her little grunts that turn into loud bowel movements, her attempt to giggle, and she has absolutely beautiful eyes and long eyelashes right now.

Spaghetti Pie!

We made spaghetti pie with carrots and broccoli hidden in it from the famous cookbook. It was a big hit!

Anna at 8 weeks!

Anna is doing very well. She is a great baby...she is very content during the day, napping in her bed well, and sleeping decent at night. Here is a peak at our schedule!

6:00 - wake up and feed
7:15 - go down for nap
8:30 - wake up and feed
9:45 - go down for nap
11:00 - wake up and feed
12:15 - go down for nap
1:30 - wake up and feed
2:45 - go down for nap
4:00 - wake up and feed
5:15 - try to go down for nap...she usually will sleep a short time and then swing the rest of this nap
6:30 - feed (may or may not sleep after this feeding)
8:30 - feed for bed time and put straight to bed.
She has been sleeping until 1:30 or 2:30 so 5 to 6 hours; then I feed again and she will then wake at 5:30/6. I tried to get her long stretch of sleep from 11 to the morning, but she did not do well with this, so we are sticking with this routine as it is working quite well. One time during the night is not bad. Plus this puts her and Avery down at night close to the same time, so we can have some down time without any kiddos.

Anna is giving us great smiles and almost giggles...I haven't captured them on camera too well.

So serious

All About Me!

Our first homework from our new school was to make Avery a book all about her! So I got it finished and they will laminate and bind it...then they keep all of the books in the book center for the children to look at during the day.

Avery with a (hopefully) 24 hour bug

Last night, Avery woke up crying. I ignored it at first, because every other time, it's usually just tossing and turning, and she'll go right back to sleep. About twenty minutes later, she really started crying/coughing/hacking, and I went in and she had vomited. I felt terrible, of course. We got cleaned up, and spent the rest of the night holding her and getting her to sleep with us in the recliner or on the couch.

She seemed to be doing better today after about 10 or so, then at 3:00, she threw up what little milk she drank at snack. So, we might be back where we started. She's been sleeping for about 3 1/2 hours now, so hopefully it was a 24 hour bug, and she'll be over it tomorrow.

A trip to the doctor might be in the cards for tomorrow if she doesn't get better.

Anna had a very slightly elevated temperature tonight as well, so we're keeping an eye on that. Probably coincidence, but we can't be too careful.

Our First Road Trip!

This past weekend we traveled to my parents' house for our first family road trip. That included Adam, myself, Avery, Anna, Boomer, and Bailey! All 6 of us! I must say I was a little nervous how the weekend would go, but I don't know that it could have gone much better. Anna missed some naps and projectile vomited on my two times, Avery had a few accidents, but overall it was a successful weekend at home. We will return sooner than later now that we know we can do it! :)

Love this picture of her!

New School!

Today Avery started her New School at The Centenary School! We got all dressed this morning talking about making new friends, going to a new school, eating the special lunch mommy packed, and playing in the indoor gym! She does great this morning....she walks in the parking lot saying; "I go new school" "I go new school" "Meet new friends". Get in the hallway and she says "I want my mommy!" She did great though, a little clingy and few tears at drop off, but not anything all that different from our normal drop offs. Adam picked her up from school and she had a great first day! They said she did very well! She ate all of her lunch except a 1/4 of her grapes....I packed a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in the shape of a pumpkin, vegetable sticks - like potato chips but made of veggies, grapes, and a yogurt! Way to go Avery!!! She had music class today and she came home singing "He's got the whole world in his hands!" I tried to sing that tonight as our bedtime routine and she said "No mommy, that is at school!" Too cute!
