1 Month Update!

I am not usually one to write much on the blog, but feel like I need to write where we are right now! (maybe just to share all the thoughts that consume my mind while I am home with a 1 month old) When you have a second child, you try so hard not to compare to what the first child did, but we do it all the time....Anna's a better eater, Avery was a better napper, Anna's going longer at night earlier than Avery, Anna's more content with wake times, Anna is much harder to keep awake following a feeding/during a feeding. However, I find myself sometimes discouraged that Anna's Feed, wake, sleep cycle during the day is not perfect...Adam keeps reminding me that she is only 4 weeks old. I am expecting too much too quick I believe.

Anna is doing one 4 1/2 to 5 hour stretch at night followed by two 3 hour stretches...not bad for only being 4 weeks old. We start our morning between 6:30 -7:00 which we feed, have some wake time, and then usually sleep/take Avery to school. We repeat this same cycle every 2 1/2 to 3 hours during the day. Anna usually has her fussy time during the evening hours during dinner time or when Avery is a little clingy. Overall, she is doing very well. She is a big fan of the swing, enjoys being outside, watching the ceiling fans, and going for walks. She is usually very content with wake time which is such a blessing! We are so blessed to have this little girl that is so healthy and easy most of the time.

I write most of this because I tried to look back to see where Avery was and I didn't document it...so I have only my poor memory to remember by which is not good. I do remember after the 6 week mark with Avery, getting more sleep and she being able to do the feed/wake/sleep cycle easier.

One of the biggest challenges right now with having two children is the evening fussy time, bed time because I usually have to nurse when it is time to put Avery to bed, and being outside to play with Avery without disrupting Anna's schedule. Adam has been a HUGE help with getting Avery to bed...I am jealous sometimes because I miss that time with Avery and she is becoming such a Daddy's girl. There is nothing more fulfilling than to watch them interact and have so much fun together...needless to say Mommy is not a whole lot of fun right now....lack of sleep, feeding a lot, wanting to make sure my house is in good shape, laundry done, etc. I have also discovered with being home...how OCD I really am and how much of my life I am wasting making the bed, doing laundry, cleaning, etc. Does it really matter? NO! But I am so anal and cannot stand my house to be a mess.

Here is a lot about what has been on my mind and how life is with 2 children. A shout out to Avery for doing very well with Anna...she has her moments, but overall I feel that she is doing quite well for having a new sister in the house.

Bottle Time!

Anna took her first bottle on Friday! She did great with it! Here is Adam feeding her it....thought Avery would be interested in helping...not so much!

"Mommy, Anna needs Blankies"

This is what Avery said to me...she is already talking for her...oh poor Anna she may never get a word in.

A little startled...or maybe she is cold!

Very warm and relaxed...Avery knew just what she needed! :)

Quite Impressive

I think that this drawing of Anna is quite impressive for a 2 year-old. Daddy drew Avery and Avery drew Anna...she has legs, arms, head....I think that is great! I am a proud Mommy!

Say Cheese!

Open your eyes Avery!! Hilarious!

The Curls are Gone...Kind of! :)

Avery got her first haircut yesterday and she did amazing!! She got her long mullet layer of curls cut off...sad times for mommy, but she looks so much better and older. This will hopefully allow for her hair to grow more evenly and fuller!

Looking at the penguins!

Gymnastics!

Avery and Shelby had a playdate on Friday at a gymnastics open gym...they had a blast. Avery did so well...I thought she would be timid...not so much!
We had a great time...thanks for inviting us Shelby to play! :)

Swinging

Loved the Trampoline!!!

She got in the foam pit and enjoyed it!...bad picture...but that is as good as I got.
